Bon voyage!

My daughter is off on a study trip to Normandy tomorrow and I set aside this pocket mirror for her as a good luck present!
I won it last week in a giveaway from lottiefrank on etsy. Lotties shop features these wonderfully stylish prints and goods using her own illustrations. My photo really doesn't do it justice I'm afraid, but you really must check out her shop!

The mirror arrived beautifully packaged in an organza bag, and is in interesting contrast to some of my daughters packing which includes wellies and rough clothing for an assault course. I can just picture her checking her lippy as she vaults over walls into muddy water.

Deliciousness!

This parcel of joy arrived this morning as part of a new passion for crochet. The colours are heaven and I can't wait to get started! It is Debbie Biss Cotton DK.
My lovely girls bought me the Rowan Crochet Workshop for xmas and I have finally learnt to crochet properly while away in Sussex at New Year in front of a log burning stove....heaven! I can really recommend this book it is clear inspiring and spiral bound so it stays open! I progressed from coasters to a scarf and then these flowers which I never thought I would be able to do but look! I did! The wools I have ordered are to make a pieced blanket from small hexagons.

Everything is ready and waiting for this evening.

I also have to mention a great blog about crochet Attic24 It is so inspiring and Lucy the author uses fantastic photography to bring her home and craft to life. She also includes some free how to's,which are wonderful. There you can see one of the inspirations behind my blanket project, the other being the crochet blanket made by my Granny which currently lives with my Mum and comforts chilly grandchildren.

Little me sewing!

I thought I would share some pictures of the book that got me sewing when I was little. I made most of the things from it and especially loved the ladybird floor cushion that my Mum helped me make from a red coat that we got a the village jumble sale.

I made these from felt!

And I do remember making the doll and that I gave her brown hair like mine.
Sadly I only have the book left, but then again the things I made are probably better in my memory than they were in reality!!

Giveaway!

Last week I was really excited to be the winner of a blog giveaway from Snapdragons Garden and so I think it is time to do my own giveaway!

I shall be giving away one of my Miffy purses which have been so popular this Xmas. We use them for all sorts of things pencil cases, ipod cases, travel sewing things, washbags! I'm sure you can find a good use for her and make her welcome! This one measures 18 x 13cm and is lined in spotty cotton. I am happy to post worldwide.

All you need to do is leave a comment on my blog. The name will be picked out of a hat on Monday 26th January. Good Luck!!

Goodies!

Thought I would show you some of the lovely things that I have in my home at the moment that inspire me! This is a real bargain from Paperchase in Brighton it cost me £1 in their sale and I love it!

This fish trivet is from Northlight design in Oxford who sell lots of Scandinavian design goods which I love, they do some mail order on their website here

I bought this last week in the sale in Boots, after a rather useless day. It is a gorgeous shade of green and has a great leaf design which reminds me of Orla Kiely. It's a huge cup perfect for when I am truly in need!
